A university should attempt to encourage and develop the science and cultural traditions for the inhabitants through continuing education, as well as attempt to teach students to develop in the sciences while considering and incorporating a public spirit. SNU has been running a variety of continuing education courses so as to improve the quality of life and upgrade communities with superb educational facilities and an acquired special knowledge regarding technological information.

As a second college the school has approximately 50 varying programs every year, re-educating almost 1000 students. SNU was appointed as the Regional Information Center for Continuing Education in Jeonnam Province by the Ministry of Education. It has since taken a leading role in the development of Human Resources.

Farming Promotion Center
The center has taken a motivated role, running the highest level managerial courses, and supporting the export of regional farming products abroad through an exchange with the Taiwan Farming Association.


SNU has been conducting various globalization programs such as International Academic Conferences, a variety of seminars, and Student and Faculty exchanges to name a few. The globalized mind is a driving force in the growth from a regionalized Korean university to one that competes with those of the world. Those who unequivocally pursue their hopes and dreams, who seek the challenges inherent in a globalized world, find a home here. Our students explored five oceans and six territories, contributing to the educational quality of the university while broadening their own educational experiences. International Exchanges Cooperation
International Memorandum of Exchanges with eight countries and nineteen universities or colleges have expanded and strengthened academic cooperation programs like student exchanges and have become the foundation for students who are developing and international global awareness and the skills associated with it.

Establishing and supporting the Educational Center for Mongolian Farming Trainees, we are teaching professors and students from the Mongolian Agricultural College, advanced agricultural techniques. On the other hand, to learn advanced IT Techniques, we sent sixty students to Neru University in India each year. We are also opening a Learning Korea program and invite students from sister colleges to teach our language and culture. This results in introducing and advertising Korea as an advanced culture.

With the intent of becoming a world class university, we pursue the mobilization of exchange cooperation with eminent colleges from around the world.







The library is a spacious and comfortable accommodation with 1,700 seats, 400,000 books and various foreign scientific journals. It assists in extensive research activities. All material are data-based to supply copy services through the internet. A remodeled computerized information room, internet searching information room and various audio materials are satisfying users' various needs and requests for information.



The museum collects, preserves, and displays valuable material and artifacts in antiquary, anthropology, history, folk customs, art, natural science, folk culture. It aids faculty and student's research and learning. It not only houses general possessive antiquities, but also cultural assets donated by the late Kangun, Seung-hyo Choi. It also accommodates many relics excavated through scientific investigations and digs. In 2001 a new exhibition hall was opened where we can survey the culture of the eastern Cheonnam region.



The center provides students with various kinds of assistance concerning student life on campus. I supplies options for psychological assistance and individual and group counseling so as to promote healthy self reflection and conflict resolution.



The center has a central role in regards to research support and information allocation in the university. It runs professional courses for students who wish to have experience in professional fields, as well as for researching faculty in need of various secured computerized materials. It aids advanced facilities in regards to national and international exchange as well as providing scientific information by setting up on-campus infra and current visual lecture rooms through the information media center.



There are three buildings holding 540 persons, and one administration building. In August, 2002, there were added three up-to-date buildings accommodating 588 persons in a woman's dormitory. The administrative building holds welfare facilities including a cafeteria and internet cafe.



The school supplies excellent education facilities and professional knowledge and information to enhance inhabitant's quality of life. It stimulates community and regional activation. We are instigating programs that transmit information in cultural, professional and personal interest areas; programs that improve quality of life in a rapidly changing society.



The center runs four prestigious Agricultural Manager Courses and prestigious Women Agricultural Manager courses in areas concentrating on tree, livestock, vegetable, and flowers in order to cultivate competent managers with new techniques, management skills and marketing abilities. It produces professional agricultural managers with the aim to develop and activate a farming society.



Three different facilities: the university press, the broadcasting station and the English (Phoenix) newspaper, advertize the university and contribute to the development of campus culture, through stimulating scientific and artistic activity. The broadcasting station gathers, exchanges and shares public opinion on campus through radio and television media. The press conducts, not only a basic role as a press, but also various scientific programs contributing to the scientific atmosphere on campus. Phoenix attempt to improve students' language abilities by publishing English journals.



The center attempts research in linguistic theories and the development of effective language teaching methods and textbooks. It contributes to the improvement of resident's proficiency in foreign languages. There are 23 high qualified foreign instructors and home instructors who teach our students English conversation through credit and non-credit courses.



The laboratoryr assists undergraduate student experiments as well as graduate student and faculty experiments by maximizing usage rates. Due to the extremely expensive nature of precision instruments and controls, this center makes available those instruments in a single location. They are open to regional colleges and industries, thus promoting the industry-university- cooperative research programs.



The university farm helps students in the agricultural fields practice in a hands-on environment. This farm is beneficial to both students and faculty in that it serves as a production education site, thus, making farm products readily available in regards to education and experimentation.



The farm breeds livestock such as beef cattle, Korean cattle, pigs, various life-stock and chickens for use in experimentation, practice and research. It contributes to the development of the regional breeding farm house by researching and developing new livestock breeding techniques and the sharing of information.



The forest has been prepared for various scientific research in comprehensive field experiments. It focuses on the reasonable management of the forest with the intention of maintaining and managing a healthy eco-system.



The factory accumulates and supplies advanced technologies, assists student experiments and practices, faculty scientific research, as well as the cooperates in development with industries. The education of engineering is proving a positive factor in the development of student and faculty research.



The institute cultivates professional knowledge needed for future teachers. It provides the qualities and skills needed for the demands of the profession. It attempts to contribute to the development of education in a professional environment.
